• I have an install of WP 3.0 running on a VPS. It’s having some memory issues, in part because of an inefficient theme. It uses about 12 – 13MB of 256MB available, according to TPC! Memory Usage.

I did a clean install on a shared server. Theme is Twenty-Ten. I added ONE test post. I installed TPC! Memory Usage. 30.93 MB of memory being used. I installed W3 Super Cache to see if that would make any difference . . . none.

I tried a different theme, which just threw errors. Guess it wasn’t a good choice.

I tried an automatic reinstall of WP. No improvement.

Why is a new install, with an EMPTY database and no plugins, sucking so much more memory than a site running 20+ plugins with over 1,200 posts and 1,500-2,500 unique visitors/day? What’s going on here? Anybody?

My error, the new install with the massive memory use is 3.0.1, the existing install is 3.0.
