• This is really ridiculous. Why do the captions strip out all HTML? I desperately need line breaks in my captions, and can’t find a solution anywhere. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Hi rivkadr,

    WordPress continues to be more troublesome with captions. In the latest version, even single quotes (sans HTML code) get converted to ASCII characters. Frustrating.

    You can, however, do the following as a workaround. It’s not ideal, but it works – for now:

    1. Upload your image and enter your caption text.
    2. Insert the image into the post using the HTML editor (don’t use Visual).
    3. Update the information between the quotes in the caption=”…” section.

    Note: If using href links, use single quotes around the URL. Double quotes will break the entire caption.

    Example:

    caption="This is a test <a href='http://wordpress.org'>link</a>. <br> And this is another test <a href='http://wordpress.org'>link</a>.

    Hope this helps.
