Plugin Wanted: Bibliography

I’ve been trying to build a wordpress plugin to support a bibliography, but I’ve run into a problem I can’t wrap my head around (knowing vanishingly little of php or mysql).

I originally grabbed ZombieRobot’s random quotes plugin (http://www.zombierobot.com/wp-quotes/) and hacked it into a Biblio manager. The fields I currently have are: title, url, source, issue, excerpt, novel (yes/no), visible (yes/no), and it’s currently working on my site.

But recently I’ve been trying to “upgrade” it — I wanted to add a “published” (yes/no) field, so that if published was =’no’ no link would be provided and a tag such as “(forthcoming)” would follow the title. I also wanted to merge the two files into one (currently the install requires adding a file into wp-admin), but I don’t know how to do that.

Can anyone help? Has anyone already built a biblio plugin?
