Check this! Douglas Bowman has just released this amazing piece of software – all-in-one, templates, XHTML, CSS, PHP, and a nice tutorial on How-To for hie amazing Photo Galleries (http://dbowman.com/photos/).
Only problem is, it is made for Movable Type! But, I think, it SHOULD be doable, to re-write a bit this and that, find the appropriate plug-ins for WP and release these templates for WordPress. The license is http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/, so it IS possible and legal;-)
