  • Yep, that;s normal.

And your issue has been noted before. the .htaccess file isn’t being read properly, so the themes can’t be served up. you’ll also find you will be unable to login to the sub-blog’s backend.

Tell your webhost you made some htaccess file changes but they aren’t sticking.

    hi,
i’m having the exact same problem,
but what should i exactly say to the support people?

    just:
i made some htaccess file changes but they aren’t sticking??

i’m with bluehost.com and i want sub directories to be enable.

    thanks

Note how many threads there are here with bluehost and this exact same issue.

Yes, say exactly that to them.

Can you please help me here, according to you’re experience ..

i want to go into a commercial or non profit business, so what
    is the best option?

    – Subdomain or Subdirecoty?

    – is there a difference in SEO, Google search and is there anything i should take into consideration before i choose any of them.

    – i will for sure offer an individual domain to any user who would like that, again is there any difference in Subdomain or Subdirecoty?

(i will start a new website, so i can choose any one of them).

    thank you for the help.

    – is there a difference in SEO, Google search and is there anything i should take into consideration before i choose any of them.

Yes, and we’ve covered it before here in the forums. Subdomains are seen as separate. subfolders as part of the main domain.

    – i will for sure offer an individual domain to any user who would like that, again is there any difference in Subdomain or Subdirecoty?

    None at all.

    great 🙁
Bluehost told me don’t use the plugin “enable multisite” and do it manulally?!

now what is worse, is that i tried doing it manually, but my website will shut down !!

    >made a freash wp.
    >edited wp-config
    >Refreash
    > website goes down !!
    i see this message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_option() in /home4/mybahrai/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 22

so again ….. a new wp ( i’m uninstalling using SimpleScripts)
    again used multisite plugin…….
    the same old no themes……
called Blueshost.. BUT THIS TIME THEY SAID :
I’m sorry, as this issue is not server related we will be unable to provide support.

    ……………

    anyidea?!

If you edit the confgi file and that makes the site go down, then you’re probably putting something in the wrong spot.

Running a network is not for everyone. It’s the same thing they use to run wordpress.com to host thousands of blogs. If you were just looking to add one or two, you may find it easier to use separate installs.

    well it works now 🙂

it was my mistake using the wrong editor.. i thought that i was using the right one.

but regarding the use of enable multi-site plugin, if i knowed how easy the lines i’m suppose to add my self, i would’nt ask for help, maybe i had to see someone doing it on a video (yes now i know that the text here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network is more than enough, but a video is always nice, maybe i’ll do it when i find a good tutorial flash creater.

i truthfully needed this feature, so thanks alot Andrea_r for the great help.
