• I just updated to wordpress 3.0 while installing WordPress on my site, and when i try to select a permalink structure, all of the default options result in a white page with the line:

    Does not compute

after hitting submit. I tried tracking it down in the help documents, and I’m at a loss as to why this is happening.

Anyone able to help me out?
I installed WordPress via my hosting company (Hostica) which was using version 2.9, and decided to upgrade to the most recent version after installing. The install said that it worked fine, and this is the first setting that I’m trying to change in WordPress besides the settings to set it up.

    Do you have any plugins?

That’s … bizarre. I’ve never seen that before.

I have no plugins installed. it is literally a fresh install. I haven’t done anything but change password, setup an RSS feed, and a few other ‘clerical’ settings.

I started working on getting things set up to format the blog for the site, and get things moving, and this was what I got.

What kind of server are you on? Unix, IIS…?

I’m 90% positive that it is hosted on a Linux Apache server.

Ok, So I was looking trying to figure out if it was a server error on my side, and the

“Does not compute” Is the text associated with the

    ErrorDocument 400.

Any reason why I would be getting this error when trying to do this?

    Hello guys.

I got busy doing other things here, and had put getting the blog together off to the side. Now, I’m back working on it, and I just updated to V3.1 of the software.

I’m still having the same problem when I try to deviate away from using the default style of links, and move to a permalink structure. Whenever I select a permalink structure, I get an Error: 400.

Another problem that I’m having: I’ve been trying to get everything else running so that I can launch the blog soon. When I try and follow any of the RSS links I’m greeted with an XML Error.

Error on line 57 at column 14: AttValue: ” or ‘ expected.

The first thing that I did was to make sure that it wasn’t the template that I have been working on. I changed from the theme that I have been editing to the “Default” theme, and I removed my index page that I had created and installed the base index page, thus removing all of my work from the equation.

The odd thing is, even with the default theme and index page installed, it is going to a page that looks like my theme, and not loading the entire page.

For reference, the blog that I’m setting up is at

Any help that you guys could give me with either problem would be appreciated.

The permalinks at this point aren’t as big of a problem as the broken RSS links. I can deal with not having “nice” links for now, but the broken RSS links are really halting the launch.

    Thanks again!

Just an update. I have the 400 error fixed. I missed a security setting in the folder permissions…

So, now I just need to figure out the problem with the RSS feeds, and I’m golden I think

    HEy chadcrider,

Can you please tell me how you resolved the bad request error.
I got the same error when i update permalinks. and my website is also hosted on hostica.

    Looking for your quick response?

    Thanks
    James
