post and pages display differently – very frustrating
-
I am having a very frustrating problem with a theme I am using. The pages on the site display the sidebar and footer perfectly. However the post pages are missing the sidebar and the footer.
When I am logged in as admin, the post and pages work correctly – everything is displayed properly, however when I log out and view the site as a ‘visitor’ once again the sidebar and footer is mising on the post pages.
I have checked the relevant code for both page.php and single.php and they both appear to have exactly the same code, so i cannot work out the problem. –
</div><!–/col1–>
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
<?php get_footer(); ?>
the site is http://belfastrestaurants.info
if anyone can shed some light on what may be cuasing the problem I would be very grateful
Thanks

it seems as if the comments form is breaking the display of posts;
there could be some broken code in comments.php (?) of the theme.
thanks for the pointer – here is the comments code. Can you see anything wrong in it?
<?php // Do not delete these lines
if (‘comments.php’ == basename($_SERVER[‘SCRIPT_FILENAME’]))
die (‘Please do not load this page directly. Thanks!’);if (!empty($post->post_password)) { // if there’s a password
if ($_COOKIE[‘wp-postpass_’ . COOKIEHASH] != $post->post_password) { // and it doesn’t match the cookie
?><p class=”nocomments”>This post is password protected. Enter the password to view comments.</p>
<?php
return;
}
}/* This variable is for alternating comment background */
$oddcomment = ‘alt’;
?><!– You can start editing here. –>

it stops here:
<p style="padding:5px 0px 10px 0px;"><div style="display:inline;float:left;margin-right:15px;"><?php show_subscription_checkbox(); ?></div> <small>Subscribe to Comments?</small></p>
the function
show_subscription_checkbox();
seems to be breaking the code, i.e. stop any further execution, without error messages.i can’t say for sure where to find
show_subscription_checkbox()
– first try is to look into functions.php of the theme.I removed the show_subscription_checkbox(); code it it all seems to display ok now! Thank you very much for your help
