Accidentally deleted some files from WordPress

    Hi everyone,

    I’ve had a WordPress website for a while. A little while ago, I was trying to delete files from another website I’m working on using Fugu’s SFTP. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted some key files from my own WordPress website.

    I’m currently getting this error message when I go to the site:

    “Problem in wp-config.php – $base is set to BASE when it should be the path like “/” or “/blogs/”! Please fix it!”

    I get the same message if I go to the wp-admin page.

    I’m not really sure which files I deleted. I’m wondering if I just delete the remaining files and reinstall WordPress, if my data — including the static pages I created and the blog posts I posted — would still be there.

    It might be impossible to answer this question based on the information I just gave you. I thought I’d just ask to see.

    Just re-upload WordPress. Make sure you keep your wp-config.php and wp-content folder on the server though. Dont replace or delete these.

    By doing this you wont lose any of your posts etc

    Hey Conorp. I did what you said–deleted all of the files except wp-config.php and wp-content.

    When I went back to the website, I got the same error message. Could there be something else wrong?

    Trying making a new wp-config file. Just edit one on your desktop and plug in the current values. Ie: use the same database name etc as you currently have. Then replace the current one.

    well, now it’s just blank. Is that an improvement? I’m thinking I may have a server problem. Let me talk to them and get back to you.
