• this may sound like a stupid question, but i can’t seem to change the color or size of the navigation bar that sits below the header image. i edited the stylesheet navigation section and nothing seems to change. anyone know what to do? i’d also like to upload my own navigation buttons as images and link them to the corresponding page, does anyone know how i could do that?

  • Remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing an updated page/site. Or try emptying your browser cache. This should ensure that your web browser fetches a fresh copy of the page rather than serving up an out-dated copy from your own cache.

    Also disable/deactivate any caching plugin(s).

    ah, thanks so much.

Could someone explain in English how to do this? I would like to change the color of the navbar, the navbar font, and the black line above the header.

    Hi 3zacharm,

In Css File Style.css (thtmes/twentyten/style.css) at line no. 437 the class of ancher tag make the color whatever u want and also line no. 374 #access class change the color whatever you want

Thanks! I can probably figure that out 😉

Well, I got the lines taken care of, but I still can’t find the place to change the font color. Also, what program do you use that provides line numbers?

Use Firefox and download firebug here. Once this is loaded, just mouse over what you want to change->right click-> and hit ‘inspect element’. A couple windows will open at the bottom of your screen. On the right is the css(make sure you select the html tab not the css)on the left is the code (div tags)of the page your looking on. You can mouse over the code and you’ll see the page itself get highlighted. The best part is you can change the css elements in the right panel and see them live. Give it a try and you’ll see the exact line and code you need to edit.

    Hope this helps

I currently have the arras theme installed and would like to shorten the nav bar to line up with boxes and header please take a look http://www.sctoronto.ca

I found very clear step by step instructions at http://www.blog.web6.org/editing-wordpress-3-background-menu-color/ It only took 5 mins to work it out and I changed it on my site

I got so used to looking at that black navigation bar I am not sure what colours to choose now I have a choice of any.
