   My webhost has been doing weird things with open base_dir resrictions, which has crippled my blog's uploading ability. I tested a fresh blog install, and it works fine, which might mean a workaround is best...

   Here's the question:

   How do I point the new blog at the old mysql database? Does this work, or am I on the wrong track? Any suggestions are welcome.

   You simply use the same information from your original wp-config.php file for your new site.

   Ah ha, I figured it was that easy.

   So that's all I need to keep safe during the transfer, (besides the database).
