  • I have the same problem. Is there a solution for this?

Me, too. I have the same issues and am seeking a solution.

    I’m using WP 3 & .5.2

    Thanks in advance.
    Matt

Hi, I have the same problem. When I map test.com to test.mydomain.com and park test.com, goion to test.com just shows signup page.
    What is the problem?
    I have this a record in DNS zone: *.mydomain.com. A my.server.IP.address
and I used the IP instead of CNAME.

If you;re redirected to the signup page, it means it is not mappeed correctly *within WordPress*. This means it can;t find the address in the database.

I know I’ve missed something, but I can’t figure out what is missing.
Could it be because of wildcard? My host added it for me when I wanted to install Multisite feature for subdomains. I don’t know if the settings is exactly what the plugin needs. Anyway, can you please explain what exactly you mean by “within wordpress”?

No, you don’t need wildcards for domain mapping to work.

By “within WordPress” I mean – go to the admin area of the blog you want to map. Look under the Tools menu. there will be one there called “Domain Mapping”> Click it. Fill in the domain name.

Yes, that’s exactly what I did. I mapped a domain from the blog’s admin area. But the problem still is the same.

What’s the domain you’re trying to map?

    for example, test.com to test.mydomain.com.
I had the same problem with blogs created in cpanel. they too would show the signup page instead of the real subdomain (@Andrea_r: you may remember that topic). I solved the problem by adding some redirect rules to htaccess. Should I use the same method for domain mapping? If so, do you know the code required for this?

Another thing; You said that; “This means it can’t find the address in the database”, can I add domains manually to database? And where can I find instructions for this?
    Thanks

No, that’s what the PLUGIN does for you.

    Go look in your database.

I was asking for a real actual URL I can visit. Sometimes I can see things that are obvious to me that you may not think to mention.

Also – is this install an add-on domain or is it in the public_html folder of your web account?

No, it’s in my public_html folder and it’s not a add-on domain. I could provide you with a actual url, but the problem is that my site is in Persian. If you don’t have problem with that, please let me know.

As long as it’s not porn, I don’t care what language it’s in. 😉

This is my email: scratali [at] hotmail .com
Would you please contact me via this email? I provide you with some information and I’ll tell you why I needed you to use my email.

Sorry, I don’t do free email support.

    That’s fine, thank you anyway.
