Revert to single site

    I turned on the Multisite options, backing up the wp-config.php and .htaccess file as directed. After playing for a while, I turned it back off (copied the wp-config and htaccess files back).

    Now, there are plugins that “know” my site is set up for multiple blogs and get confused. How can I revert to a single blog with no extraneous bits and pieces? I’m assuming it will involve editing or dropping SQL tables, but I don’t want to destroy what I have just to enable one or two inessential plugins (Google Sitemap being primary).

    I asked this myself some time ago and this is what andrea_r said:

    Yep.

    – take out the lines you added in wp-config
    – put back the single WP htaccess file (empty will work too)
    – drop the extra tables that were added

    So you really do need to get rid of the new MS-related tables.

    Google’s XML sitemap says it doesn’t work with multisite. Everything else is happy. But, since I don’t actually have any intention of running a multisite network, I’d just as soon revert.

    Why did I enable it in the first place? Cuz it looked interesting and it’s good to know more rather than less. 🙂

    Well, there are multisite xml maps too. 😉

    But hey! good for trying new things, now you know. 😀
