  • The Twenty Ten theme is excellent in many ways. Many thanks to the WP team.

As I work with it, I am running into ideas that would be very helpful for child theme development. A couple thus far:

    1. Consider organizing functions.php to make it easier for child themes to modify or remove specific custom functions — such as the custom header images function. (Right now this is difficult without modifying Twenty Ten template files directly. It would be preferable to easily remove an action via the child theme’s own functions.php file. Or maybe I just need help identifying the code to do this.)
    2. Add hooks needed for plugins like the Yoast Breadcrumbs plugin, again saving the need to modify template files.

Items like these seem like they would be relatively easy to implement and would make child theme development even easier.

I’m sure others will have recommendations as they work with it as well.

But again, many thanks for getting WP 3 theming off to a great start.

    David
