• Hi,

Today I installed WordPress 3.0 for the first time. In past versions of WordPress I always copied the default theme in another folder, which I gave my own name. After changing the CSS template comments, and activating the template in the control panel, the template was ready to strip for my own needs.

Now I tried doing the same thing in WordPress 3.0. I copied the Twenty Ten Theme folder and renamed it. I adjusted the CSS template comments. In the control panel I can now choose this newly made template (with its new name). After replacing full CSS content with a new design made earlier, I noticed my homepage does not update this CSS. Event after changing index.php or header.php nothing happens. I am sure I have selected the new theme in my control panel.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here? I don’t want to edit the original Twenty Ten theme (because this will be replaced with an update).

  • Might consider using a Child Theme concept instead.

Notice that the Twenty Ten theme should now be in the theme repository. Also, in the future, I believe the intention is to have another theme, maybe called Twenty Eleven that will then be the new default theme.

Well, I don’t want to use a Child Theme. I would like to build a new theme without having to dive into the difficulties of building a theme from scratch. I also tried to copy the Default theme from an older WordPress install. Activating this will not show it either.

Have you tried disabling plug-ins that involve cacheing?
