   How could I output an archive organized by year?

   The output that I would like would be something like:

   1920:

   link to post #1, excerpt here
   link to post #2, excerpt here
   link to post #3, excerpt here

   1921:

   link to post #4, excerpt here
   link to post #5, excerpt here

   Etc.

   I think I'm over complicating this in my head. I've done several searches and looked over the codex, but the only thing I can figure out is how to make a whole archive page a single year. I need every entry made on one page... just categorized into years.

   There's several versions of what's known as a "nicer archives" or "narchives.php" template. Try searching on those terms.

   Some plugins that might offer what you're looking for, as well:

   I've actually already started coding it myself, and am making pretty good progress. I think I'm going to stick with this, because I need to learn to code PHP w/ MySQL better anyways :)

   I am going to check out those plugins anyway, though.
