[Plugin: NextGen Gallery] placed in sidebar but only half appears

I am attempting to put the NextGen slide show in the sidebar of template “ModMat” in the “blurb-top” div. Even if I set style in that div to a height and width same as the demo NextGen slide show used in its sidebar, only half of the slide show appears. Has anyone tried this successfully? Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?
