    Hi all,

I have a custom 404.php page in my theme folder, but if I try and view it by typing an address that does not exist, all I get is a browser 404 message, and the following text -

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    The site is http://www.agriculturesolicitor.co.uk/.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix this, I'd be grateful for the help.

    Thanks.

What happens if you use Twenty Eleven with all plugins deactivated?

Sorry, should have said - no plugins on the site (it's only little), and switching to TwentyEleven yeilds the same results. I'm thinking that I'm looking at the host?

    Ah ha, I've sorted it.

I updated my FTP Client a few days ago (CortFTP), and it was no longer showing .htaccess (or .htpasswd) files for local connections, so by .htaccess file wasn't even being copied to the server!

    Thanks.
