• I get a ” 404 – Sorry! Page not found.” error message on my Home Page.
All the other pages and entries work fine

My Host installed WordPress in a different folder named “/blog”
I didn’t want that word in the URLs, so I followed these instructions
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
(Below using a pre-existing sudirectory install)

The home page worked fine before that change.

It doesn’t matter if I choose LAST ENTRIES or STATIC PAGE in the READING options, the Home Page doesn’t work anyway.

    Any ideas, please????

  • Hi there,

If you are just setting this up for the first time, that is, creating a brand new installation, I think I would start over, just not from the very beginning. If you move the WordPress files and folders in to the subdirectory that you want, let’s call it ‘/newblog’, you can delete the wp-config and rerun your installation process.

Thanks for answering my post 🙂
I’m not creating a new installation, my website was already installed in a subdirectory and not the root. That would be the second case explained in the link I posted (Using a pre-existing sudirectory install).
My website has been running for a couple of years, it has many pages and entries and lots and lots of files. Starting over is not and option.
