I was trying to find out how to change the page name, and I contacted my host, and they said to use the admin page on WordPress. I tried that, and now, not only am I getting 404 errors, but it won't even let me access my admin page anymore..what did I do? How do I fix it? I'm about to freak, because my whole blog is down, and I hadn't cached it since I moved to WP last week.

Why don't you take a deep breath and explain in a coherent manner what you did.

Page name? Do you mean blog name or blog url?

    You tried what?

I mean the page of the URL. It's http://www.spitfiresworld.com/journeys

I was trying to alter the /journeys part. The advice my host gave me was to go into the admin section and change it where it gave the URL part. Well it screwed something up internally, because now I can't even access my admin page. It sends me to yahoo's 404 error page.

What does that mean? Step by step.

Are you talking about General Settings - WordPress address (URL):

What did you change it from? to what?

I'd really love to give more detail, but I'm afraid I can't. I can't access my admin page anymore to tell you precisely where I changed it. It was one of the admin pages in the WP dashboard. There were a LOT of boxes, and 2 different boxes had the site URL in it. I changed it in both. Other than that, the boxes lots of information that I didn't know what it was. I know some of it had to do with my template name, and things like that. But all I know is it was a very long page with lots of boxes.

    from http://wwww.spitfiresworld.com/journeys to http://wwww.spitfiresworld.com/onestepjourneys

It's what DreamHost said to do. Methinks they knew about as much about the process as I do. Na-da.

I tried that. And when I do, it auto changes to http://www.spitfiresworld.com/onestepjourneys/wp-login.php and then reroutes to a yahoo 404 error page.

BTW, I apologize if I'm coming across frustrated. I am immensely grateful for the help you're providing. I'm just very upset with my host.

Go to cpanel from your site's admin page.
Backup your current MySQL database for that blog.
Go to MySQL. At the bottom, you'll see phpMyAdmin
Open wp_options and change the record for the blog url.

    BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP first.

Okay thank you. It said it may be a few days before the backup can be completed. Meanwhile, who do you recommend for hosting WordPress?

How big is your blog? Backing up your database should just take a few minutes. You don't need to backup your entire site.

That was the only backup option I saw. And it's the only thing on the site....

In cpanel, go to Backups and look for Download a MySQL Database Backup

I'm sorry..I'm not trying to be dense or stupid...I'm really not. But I'm not seeing cpanel there. I'm just seeing cpanel importer. Where do I find this?

    Dreamhost calls it Webpanel.
    https://panel.dreamhost.com/

Okay. I fixed the problem..I changed everything back to where it was, and now I'm getting the following errors.

My website pulls up the following error: Error establishing a database connection

If I try to log into the admin I don't even get the log-in screen anymore. I get this: Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysql.spitfiresworld.com. This could mean your host's database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.
