  • I’m getting some 404 errors showing up in Webmaster Tools that have me a bit baffled – because they shouldn’t exist! They show as format:

    Broken URL: /blog/article-name/feed
    Linked from: /blog/article-name

Does anyone know why a feed of an individual article like this would be spawning somewhere?? When I check the page, there’s no instance of it there, so I have no idea where it’s coming from…

  • 404 errors in GWT don’t necessarily need to “have existed” for them to show up. Its entirely possible there is a link pointing to these pages from either your site, or someone else’s site. Check the source in webmaster tools (the “linked from” tab).

If you read my question you would see I have posted what is in the ‘Linked from’ tab already – that’s the problem, the link appears to have come from a page where the link doesn’t exist (and hasn’t ever existed).
