404 Error with Current and New Pages
-
I have read the post at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/404-error-when-adding-new-page-or-post, however I’m still stuck when trying to view current or add new pages.
After trying to direct Wp to serve a static home page, I’ve bumped into 404 Errors. WordPress is installed in the root directory and my URL is http://www.victoryplasma.com, so I edited ‘functions.php’ to read:
<?php
update_option(‘siteurl’,’http://www.victoryplasma.com/’);
update_option(‘home’,’http://www.victoryplasma.com/’);Instead of
<?php
update_option(‘siteurl’,’http://www.victoryplasma.com/blog’);
update_option(‘home’,’http://www.victoryplasma.com/blog’);Once I uploaded the modified functions.php, I was able to log back in to the admin panel. However, I am still receiving a 404 error when attempting to view current or add new pages. I changed permalinks back to ‘default’ from /%postname%/ and deleted ‘.htaccess’. I still get the original index.html with the WP page title appended, like so: http://www.victoryplasma.com/?page_id=59.
I do have the original index.html along with index.php still in the public_html folder and I realize this may be part of the conflict. I’ve tried editing .htaccess to resolve this issue, but have had no luck.
How to I resolve the 404 Errors so that I can make progress on other fronts? I realize I may be dealing with multiple issues and am very new at this.
