• I tried updating a theme using the ftp method (instead of doing it through my dashboard) and through the process, something happened and now my site won’t work at all. I can’t even login. I get this error:

    Not Found

The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I looked through several forums and it sounds like it has something to do with my .htaccess file, but I don’t even see it (using dreamweaver and yes, it’s set to “show hidden files.”

    Is it something else?? Help!!

  • I think you should try these steps through your FTP:

    1) Rename your theme in the wp-content/themes folder. This should deactivate the theme.
    2) Rename all plugins in the wp-content/plugins folder.

Try doing these steps and logging into the dashboard once again.

I tried doing both of those and it still gives me the same message.

Should I totally reinstall everything? Do a whole new set-up? Will that lose all my posts and settings….will I have to remake the whole site?
