I’m posting in How-To and Troubleshooting (as opposed to Installation) because WordPress has been working fine for the past 3 weeks … but suddenly tonight I got this error when trying to access my index.php page:

Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in youn wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
    * Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

    2 things:
    1. I took a look at the wp-config.php file and everything is as it was 3 weeks ago … so no error there, it should be functioning correctly.
    2. The dev’s spelled “your” wrong.
    Help??

Please post a link to the site in question so folks can check and see for themselves 🙂
Maybe its a temporary glitch with the database/ database server. Happened to me once, and it was gone in less than an hour.

Same thing happened with my host on different occasions, so I took the liberty to change the database error message to something more user-friendly. I would contact your host.

The index page, as requested: polynia.net/wp/index.php.
The static version of my site is working (polynia.net) so I think you guys must be correct in assuming that it’s a DB problem on the host side of things …

Did you ask the support guys? They should be of help, I guess, like mark said.

I just posted on my host’s support forums. If no one there can shed any light on it, and, if it’s still messed up by tomorrow afternoon, then I’ll contact support directly.
    Thanks!
