Looking for gallery/portfolio plug-in

Hello,
I’m on a quest for an easy-to-use gallery plugin that my customers, who aren’t always that computer literate, can handle so they can create and update their gallery pages themselves.

The built-in WP gallery plugin is a great feature, but too basic. It doesn’t show captions when you click on the thumbnail image, but rather, opens up the large .jpg by itself. I need the ability to display lengthy captions (with complete control over text formatting) on the screen that appears when a thumbnail is clicked.

I installed AwsomPixGallery and liked it – it handled long captions very well and looked good, tho the initial setup was confusing and my customers would need my help with that. What turned me off was that you had to use FTP to get your images to the server. My customers’ brains would just shut down.

Then I tried Lazyest Gallery but found I could not add lengthy captions, and there seems to be some contradictory info as to whether you can use WordPress to upload your images to the server vs FTP. I couldn’t find the ability to do so w/in WP but doesn’t matter as I couldn’t find an option to add lengthy captions.

A slideshow feature would be nice, but not necessary. The ability to rearrange images is a must.

Any advice on where to look is welcome. Thanks!
