• On my blog, every two weeks I create a Digest (a list of links and brief commentary). However, I otherwise post pretty infrequently (once or twice a month) so it’s easy for my front page to become full of Digest posts.

What I’m wondering is, is there a way for me to set up WordPress to only display the most recent Digest post on the front page? They’re all categorized the same (“Digests”). I prefer that it not be “stuck” to the top of the list, which I’m pretty sure I can do with an addon, or manually.

I’m pretty comfortable with editing code, but can’t really write it.

Thanks for any help you can give!

  • If you are using a static front page, you could create a new ‘Digest Archive’ category and exclude it from the front page query. Then when you create a new Digest, add the Digest Archive category to the previous one. Of course, you would also need to provide a way to view all the Digest Archive posts.

If you are not using a static front page, the only option I can think of is to use ‘sticky’ posts, marking only the latest Digest as sticky. That will keep the latest one on top, but won’t prevent others from appearing.
