Displaying articles on custom pages?

Hi,

I’m trying to create a special page with a custom template. The page itself works fine and can be opened. Now I want to get the latest posts from a specific category displayed on this page.

How to do this? I have searched through the forums and the Codex site, but did not really find a hint for this.

Is this possible or am I wanting to do something impossible?
