NextGen and Lightbox 2 massive images

I am toying with WP to build a site for a friend of mine (I normally use Drupal) and I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why when I click on the thumbnail in the gallery it doesn’t seem to care what I set the resize option to in the “Options” and just displays the full size image in the lightbox. Any suggestions for a new guy without crucifying him for asking? 😉
