  • I’m using a media plugin called MediaPress on my site MixTapes.TV that allows me to publish and manage playlists. It also allows users to download those playlists as .zip files.

For some reason when I have W3 Total Cache activated it doesn’t allow MediaPress to serve downloads larger than 100 MB.

    Any idea why.

and is there away for W3 Total Cache to not cache queries from MediaPress?

    Thanks.

No, no idea how downloads are handled.

Use debug mode for db to find mediapress queries (check the bottom of the source code) to find a query stem (like a table name) and add that to the ignored query stems field on the database caching tab.

Yes, simply add /forum/ or /wp-content/plugins/mediapress/download_playlist.php to the never cache the following pages field on the page cache settings tab.

OK now lets say I had some .zip files hosted in /wp-content/plugins/mediapress/zipfiles/

Lets say I had W3 Total Cache setup to work with MAXCDN, would there be away for W3 Total Cache to cache those files and store them on MAXCND?

Not sure If I worded that right.

Yes if you add this path to the custom files field on the CDN settings tab, MaxCDN will mirror them for you: /wp-content/plugins/mediapress/zipfiles/ (they do not need to be cached per se).

Oh ok I thought cache and mirror meant the same thing since it has to copy the file and then server, that how it works right?

Apologies for these simple questions, this CDN stuff is so foreign to the average webmaster, I just know it improves websites, that’s as far as my knowledge goes.

Well yes a CDN is a very high performance caching service. Anyway, origin pull means that the CDN makes a copy from your server on automatically.

hey where can i get the mediapress plug in?? can u give me a link or the site.

@chosen1234, can you mark this as resolved?
