This a very dangerous plug in. It has the ability to delete not just what it creates, but every blog and user in your installation at the click of a button.
I cannot understand how any plug in has the ability to do that.

If it’s purpose is merely to create demo data, then why program it to delete everything?

Especially when the delete is Titled “Delete Demo Data”, yet it deletes EVERYTHING.

I do not recommend this plug in to anyone who has never used anything like it before and I definitely do not recommend it to novice users.

  • I agree entirely, this plugin is not for novice users. It is for site developers and helps them to see how their site functions with data in it. As explained in the description:

“If you develop WordPress MU websites it’s useful to have some demo data in your system while it’s being built

It therefore stands to reason that you wouldn’t use this plugin on a live site. The “Delete Demo Data” option takes the database back to the state it was in when you first installed WordPress, ready for real data to be put in by users.

I’ll update the FAQ to reflect this point and (hopefully) ensure people don’t misunderstand what the plugin does.

Agreed. You should also put the warning on the button and maybe change it to “delete all data”. Or “Restore database to original state”. Delete demo data infers that it only deletes the posts it created, not to mention users, categories, pages. Thank god I had a backup.

Oh it also deletes all the menus created.
