    Hello,

Having problems with wordpress running with MAMP (most recent versions as of today).

I’ve run through the instructions here:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_Locally_on_Your_Mac_With_MAMP

and the wordpress bit fails at the last hurdle:

“Lastly, we’ve got to run WordPress’ famous 5-minute install. Visit your local site (localhost:port or localhost:port/wordpress), and enter the following information into the database setup form:…”

I tried following it to the letter and what happens is no matter what browser i use it offers to save the file instead of opening it so i can enter the database details etc.

I then tried editing the wp-config.php file (in other words following the ‘famous 5 minuite install’), changing the user name / password to root, the database name to wordpress etc. Same problem, the browser just wants to save the file.

I tried directing the browser to /wp-admin/install.php

    same problem

When dragging the file directly to a browser i get errors, code, and this message:
‘.__(‘You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.’).’

The thing is i haven’t set up any database tables, just the database, called it ‘wordpress’.
(So i tried from the start, without edited, but renamed, wp-config.php file)
However, in the MAMP start page, it only points to a SQLite manager tab, which as far as i know isn’t supported by wordpress. I don’t know how to attempt configuring this manually, or to tell it to use mySQL

I found this which sounds identical:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/283274

    but no fix

    Any help much appreciated,

    Thanks
