This plugin is great and I’ve already made enhancements to it, one of which I gave to the developers to create the v1.1.8 update. I’m also working on allowing connection to multiple social networks at the same time and other nice enhancements.

There is one thing Gigya provides for free that no other competitor provides and that is the ability to make direct API calls to the social networking provider. For Facebook, this is cake as full Facebook Connect functionality is supported.

However, there are no examples as to how to make these direct API calls to other containers, such as Twitter or MySpace. Would Gigya be willing to provide an example? I see the Gigya API to retrieve session information (http://wiki.gigya.com/030_API_reference/REST_API/socialize.getSessionInfo), but there is no sample code for how to use it.

I’m used to be able to do things like $facebook=new Facebook(API_KEY,SECRET_KEY) and then $facebook->api_client->whatever. How do we do this with Twitter and Facebook, though?

    Thanks!

Can someone explain to me how long this plugin works without charge? It is my understanding that their API for this is $15K with a $5K setup fee. So at what point do you end up getting cut off?

    Thanks

    Hi,

The WordPress plugin is currently free of charge.

Right, the Gigya WP plugin is free. Also, Gigya is the only multi-login provider that let’s you get a valid session ID from the various social networks so you can make your own native API calls. Others charge for that. While the plugin doesn’t support native API’s (Twitter, etc.) you can use those without charge as well.
