“Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser.”

    Super-noob question, I’m sure. The ‘famous 5 minute-install’ has a step that goes like
    “Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser.”
    As a mac user, does this just mean I double click on the .php file (if so, from the computer file, or the server copy?) and run it in a browser? That has not worked in Chrome or Firefox, the browser just displays it like a text file. Do I have to do this in windows? Thanks in Advance.

    *UPDATE*
    My problem has been solved by my server somehow magically letting me set the blog up. But I have a feeling this question still remains for new kids on the block.

    Go to http://your_domain/path_to_wordPress/wp-admin/install/php using your web browser.

    I have similar problems. All I’m offered is to save or open the install-page, and if I choose Open, it starts Dreamweaver for editing…

    Should I remove my old settings (from old installation) from the config.php-file, leaving db-connection data, and try to let the script create new tables and then import the old settings?

    php is not enabled on the server or is not functioning correctly

    I’m also having problems.

    I’m using the path http://my domain/wp-admin/install.php

    What is path_to_wordpress ? And where do I find it?
