Please help me, this issue is driving me nuts. I want to allow my visitors to have their own blogs, is this the write program to do this?
Thanks,
Justin
wordpress as of now does not allow u to have multiblog from the same installation. u can however use category names to divide the posts according to users if that satisfies ur requirement…
I’m not sure you entirely understand WordPress. Three things that will probably help you:
- One installation of WordPress = One Weblog. In other words, one installation of WordPress is not meant to administer more than one weblog at a time.
- One installation of WordPress = One Directory. That is, unless you’re willing to hunt around the files and what-not to change a bunch of files names.
- WordPress’ registration feature is only to let multiple people post to the same weblog. It does not give them the ability to create another weblog, which is impossible anyway.
Opensourcecms.com has a bunch of different content mgmt. systems you can try out, and last time I checked, some of them let users sign up for their own journal-type-things.
It looks like what I want is listed in the http://wordpress.org/support/10/639
He has it on his site, where you can sort the posts by individual user. I just haven’t been able to get it 100% the way his is yet.
I’m so close, it’s driving me crazy. Using the plugin at http://chrisjdavis.org ‘ site I get a list of authors. I don’t understand how the link part of that plugin works though. It points to index/author/username.
I figured out that WP will show just the posts for a given user using the link index.php?author=[ID #]
Basically I would like to modify the plugin at http://chrisjdavis.org so that it shows the list and the link it points to puts in the correct ID #. It seems like that would be a fairly easy change.
Thanks,
Justin
Thanks D,
That works great. After fighting with this for hours, now it’s working 🙂 YAY!
Thanks,
Justin
Heh.
Great to hear! I love it when a few minutes of my time can save others hours — that’s what I live for. Glad I could help out.
