I’ve been dealing with an abnormal amount of spam for a long time. Akismet is catching them all fortunately and adding them to my spam queue.
I tried the reCAPTCHA plugin for wordpress, which allows me to require a captcha be typed in in order to make an anonymous comment, but for some reason I’m still getting spam. This apparently isn’t working.
Anyone have any advice for this? I don’t want to completely prevent unregistered users from commenting on my blog, but I need some preventative measures to prevent spammers from making comments as well.
In the Akismet options, you can set it to automatically delete spam comments on posts over one month old. That really cut down on the number of spam comments I had to deal with.
