• Hi. I use XO, and I have just renamed my site. The blogs I had on the site are now displaying this:

Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.

Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

So, I went into the wp-config.php and changed what was needed. That didn’t work.

Then I went into XO admin and found that it didn’t think I had wordpress installedâ€â€?OK, fine, I will reinstall it.

Nope, then I get this: WordPress was not not able to be installed for the following reason: Unable to connect to MySQL server.

So I went to see if my database was enabledand it is.

So now I am deeply confused and certain this was brought on by my switched URLs.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • This could probably due to your hosting provider. You may have to confirm with them the settings you need to use.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I personally use Bluehost and they’re greatâ€â€?so far the customer care at XO has been awful.

    Thanks.

did you ever figure out the correct username / password / host to connect to the mysql database on XO?

I am having the same issue and the tech support people kept asking me “where did you upload the database to?”… needless to say, i hung up.

    Thanks.
