Time out and messed up web addresses.

    I am having two problems which I am not sure are related to eachother. I am hosted on Godaddy, with a brand new install, I’ve tried deactivating plugins and a basic theme.

    3 days ago I started having time out errors when I click publish. It doesnt matter what I do it times out. Also, in other areas of the dashboard and the main blog pages time out. I cruised some forums and a lot of people suggested it was the host, not wordpress. It is not concurrent connection issues because I have little to no traffic.

    So, after 2 days of piddling with wordpress, I called GoDaddy.
    Godaddy said the timeouts were a known issue and would be fixed yesterday. Its still happening.

    Then I noticed another strange phenomenon. Sometimes I don’t even get a timeout. I get a “this page doesn’t exist” When I look at the web address, there are random letters shoved in and I don’t know why.

    ex: “http://fakedomain.com/LfneM/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=60”

    Notice the LfneM. I have no idea what that is or what its for? If I delete it and try to reload I’ll get to the page.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Sounds like your site may have been hacked. Search the forums for the word hacked and see what other people have done.

    Thanks for your direction minnow, but my problem seems different.

    The links changed in my link appear in the admin panels, not just the post permalinks. I would check to be sure that the permalink structure isn’t changed, but I can’t get to that page due to the problems I am having.

    Also, my links only add 4 letters. Not the giant strings that other people are seeing.

    Any other Ideas?

    The site URL is dermatillomaniac.com.

    Godaddy has finally admitted the timing out is their issue. But still, the 5 letter combo doesn’t make sense.

    I have this problem, too! Did you figure anything out? Totally had the random 4 letters at the end of my site. So annoying! And I can’t log into my wordpress page — it just takes forever.

    I can’t see any evidence of hacking on your site. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?
