    Hi!
A friend asked me to ‘clean up’ his WP site & when i logged in, i realized he’s waaaaay back on wp 2.3.3.

I’d like to upgrade to the latest & greatest, but wondering if this big of an upgrade is going to cause me any headaches…

since it’s ‘the old way’, it’ll be the whack the files, load the new stuff & run installation.

he’s got a ton of content & i just dont want to jack it all up.

    i appreciate any thoughts. thanks!!

  • It’s best to do an incremental upgrade from old versions in the sequence 2.3 to 2.5, 2.5 to 2.8.5, 2.8.5 to 2.9.2. In theory you should be able to upgrade from 2.0.5 straight to 2.9 but people report more success with the incremental approach to ensure the database gets upgraded properly. Older versions available at http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

Incremental upgrade is recommended to upgrade WordPress from very old version to latest version.
