• I made a giant mistake in not backing up my SQL database when I was trying to move my WP installation.

I did backup all of the files in that directory via FTP.

I am waiting to hear from my server to see if they made backups of my SQL database.

    Two questions:

    1. Is there any chance that the SQL database files are hidden somewhere in the same directory in which my WP was installed?

    2. Which files do I need to restore from my backup to bring back the changes to my theme, plugins, etc? I already reinstalled the Atahualpa theme but obviously none of my changes are there.

  • I’m not sure what you mean when you say that you reinstalled the Atahualpa theme. Did you set up a whole new WordPress installation that uses a different database?

What you need to do (assuming the new location is on the same server) is upload all of your WordPress files and folders to the new location, making sure that the path is correct in the WordPress folder’s .htaccess file, and also use one of these tricks:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

The second one about adding the two lines to functions.php has been pretty reliable for me.
