“I am installing wordpress on an NT server not running an apache module.”
If the computer on which you are installing WordPress does not have MySQL installed, you will need to adjust this line in your wp-config.php
:
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
DB_HOST needs to point to the name of the computer on which your MySQL database is stored.

I have just been talking to my host.
They have:
1) renamed the wp-config.php and found that even when the file points to a fresh local host it’s not updating.
The even did the same with the wp-config sample file.
The problem they are sure is with wordpress somehow.
They are Running IIS, and there was no problem in my original config file.

The issue is that I ordered a subdomain (www.weblog.disyasite.com)
4 days ago at it still isn’t done.
I’ve been having troubles installing the site and getting a “Can’t establish database contact! error.
I repeatedly ask my host to check on the problem.
Spoke to my host again after reinstalling the site and and got a standard 404
I then started to look around the mainsite and found “ANOTHER COPY OF THE WORDPRESS FOLDER In the HTML folder!
Ha ha I thought this must be the problem and decided to talk to the host again.
They say indeed it is….They explain…without a subdomain registered the wordpress folder must be nested inside the root HTML folder….with a subdomain registered the wordpress folder must be OUTSIDE the Root HTML folder…so they have put their escalation teem on it and I should be able to install wordpress.
Of course I am mad as hell, because they simply didn’t take me seriously all week..blaming the problem on wordpress…now I have to wait till after the weekend before I can do the installation!!
Thanks for the help and i will post the actual results next week.
