How do you get Category ID when displaying a category

    In your admin panel go to the category list and click on the category. Look in the url for the part at the end that says something like “&cat_ID=3” and the number there should be the category ID.

    Thanks but that’s not what i’m after, I need to know how to do it in the archives.php file

    automatically detect the category id depending on which category the user is browser
