• So, I am creating a site for a client where WP is acting as the CMS. I want to incorporate a blog for the site as well and I am trying to use the same WP instance for both by separating the posts through categories.

Since I am utilizing permalinks, how do I create a scenario like this:

    company.com/about/

    -and-

    company.com/blog/post/

I know I could just create a separate WP installation for the blog but, I want to put links to recent blog posts on the main site. If there is a way to do that then that would be fine but, it would be nice ot keep it all in one instance.

  • Using the current WordPress is the way to go and changing the structure to the way you want it depends on how the current WP install’s content is organized already.

Are you using Pages to organize the current structure and/or categories with posts? There are different ways to address this. One of them would be to create a “Blog Category” and create a Category Template for “Blog” to create different layout and presentation of posts. Or, create a Static Page for the front page and let the blogging nature of WordPress take its course. Site URL?

Did not know about category templates. Thanks!
