Support » Plugins » [Plugin: IP Host blocker] IP Host Blocker not working

  • I installed this plugin the other day after a flood of hack attempts and quickly found myself unable to access the front page unless I logged in. Other people also could not access my blog.

I thought that I had somehow blocked myself from access so I scanned my other host blocker plugins, to no avail.

Short of deleting and reinstalling my blog- I finally disabled ALL my plugins and went, one by one, through the list to find the culprit.

IN the IP Host Blocker settings, I am also unable to access the blacklist file. It denies me saying I do not have permission. This is BAD.
Once the plugin was disabled, I have access.

Creator also does not have contact info and his website is in a foreign language, so I will not promote or use this plugin.

Sorry to hear that the plugin didn’t work for you.

Do you have any logs or other info describing the “do not have permission” when trying to access the settings page. (There are no FILE involed in this, everything is stored in the database)
Did you have any host in the blacklist at all?

Are you running on a selfhosted box? Sounds like the plugin was unable to write/fetch the settings from database by some reason so there should most likely be an error in the webservers errorlog.

Finally there’s a english flag on the creators website that will translate the contact info into english.
