• Hi there,

I’m trying to convert a design from XHTML/CSS to WordPress and for some reason, despite being in the right place, my stylesheet will not load when I try the WordPress theme that I just created. I tried loading other themes and substituting my css and that would work but the images would not load.

I’ve set up a testing server at http://huggz.frankenmedia-design.com which you can look at, the css file is not loading and if you try to view the css you get a 404 error. However, the style sheet is actually there (and the theme in use is called huggz) and it can be viewed if you go to http://huggz.frankenmedia-design.com/wp-content/themes/huggz/style.css

My css validates and I’ve checked the file permissions (755) I’ve tried using other themes – they load their stylesheets just fine so I know it’s something I’ve done – I’m just trying to figure out what it is so I can fix it. 🙂

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    voodoobettie

  • I can see your CSS with the link you provided, but when I visit the website (checked in Firefox and Safari) I get an error that the page loads in a loop, so there might be something wrong with your WP installation.

I was trying to see if perhaps the relative link was breaking due to an .htaccess redirect so I turned off accepting both base urls (with www and without) but that caused the infinite loop – I couldn’t get my install to load after that so I’m trying to use the theme on one of my other WP sites to see if it’s a server issue. 🙂 I will let you know shortly.

Okay I tried my theme on a couple of my other sites and I have the same problem with each one when I activate this particular theme. The problem can be seen again here http://www.sweetcss.com

The style sheet still isn’t loading, I have it in the theme directory. I’m at my wit’s end and I’m sure it’s some kind of newbie mistake – any ideas or assistance would be extremely appreciated. Let me know what else I can tell you.

Hey, I’m having the same problem with a site I’m building. I had my permalinks structure with an ending “.php” string, don’t know why but it seems to partially fix the issue, now it happens once in an hour or so.

I’d want to know ho to fix this. Waiting for any kind of answer from voodoobettie.

I’m sorry to report that I’m getting a developer involved because I couldn’t figure out what the issue was and it was taking way too long for me to resolve on my own. Other themes are fine so I’d say it might be a different problem than you’re having ZilverDragOn. Good luck.

Ok, thanks for your report voodoo. I’m still having the problem, I really can’t figure out what happens. 🙁

    Site link, Ziverdragon?
