• I have searched the forums, and I know there are FP haters out there, but I’m not going to go flush 6 years of using FP to install WP. I really want to use WP but, I cannot get the installation to work.

Step: 1 I created a new directory (folder) in Frontpage called wordpress.

Step: 2 I followed the installation procedures TO THE LETTER.

Step: 3 I go to the install.php path and I get my site’s custom 404 page.

I looked on my site, and for whatever reason, my host lists the public html under an actually directory called /html, which is apparently where Frontpage publishes because this is where the wordpress directory shows up.

I even tried to install.php using that html path, but to no avail.

I know that it is on an apache server, mysql and php4. The hosting company http://www.aplus.net is highly rated (highest by CNet) and their instructions for using FP on their Unix servers is to delete the .htaccess file prior to uploading FP (FP has their own).

Could this be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have spent hours researching the problem in the forums and sigh….no 5 minute installation for me…..I’m going on 15 hours.
