   How would I go about replacing the editor with tinymce so that an admin can add pictures to an article while they are editing from the front end?

   Or is it possible to just 'hook' into the built in editor?

   Several people have tried using TinyMCE with this plugin, but no one has succeeded, as far as I know.

   nicEdit has an upload button, but it doesn't use the WordPress backend.

   I think you could make your own button that simply calls WordPress's thickbox.
