• Hello there,

I have comcast.net as my ISP. Comcast has personal web pages, and online storage. I was able to make an HTML site using rapidweaver and FTPing the site up to comcast. I’ve cleared that old site off, and uploaded worpress and done all the install steps. Not working. If I try the address:

    home.comcast.net/~counterproductionstheatre

    -or-

    home.comcast.net/~counterproductionstheatre/wrdpold/

    I get nothing.

Has anyone installed WP onto a comcast site?

Here’s a bit of info. Your site address is:
    home.comcast.net/~USERNAME

    how you ftp is:

upload.comcast.net/ – then you get prompted to put in username and pass, which brings you to: upload.comcast.net/USERNAME

would this be messing up wordpress?

Ultimately I’m just hoping someone out there has a comcast site and has done this. Thank you all for the help.

  • I doubt very much personal website spaces offer mysql or php. Does your webspace meet these requirements?: Hosting WordPress « WordPress Codex.

Yeah, I had read all of WordPress’s requirements. But I have no idea if Comcast has mysql or php. Tried googleing it, tried looking on comcast web site. Nuthin’.

Sigh, I was just hoping someone on here may have a comcast site and has already done this.

here’s an example site. I just googled: home.comcast.net and wordpress.
it looks like maybe, maybe, this site was built with wordpress ( I think I recognize that theme)
    http://home.comcast.net/~mattd221/site/?/home/

By the way. if you do the same as I did above (googled: home.comcast.net and wordpress) you will get back this site:
    h**p://home.comcast.net/~wolfand/

just don’t go there, annoying little script.

    Thanks for the help everyone!
