.htaccess changes neccesary?

I just finished upgrading from 1.5.1 to 1.5.1.2 and had forgot, (because my Ftp didn’t show hidden files), to delete my .htaccess file. Is it neccesary to change this if everything seems to be working?
I read the Codex and couldn’t figure if this step was for a Major upgrade or any upgrades.
