Trouble Importing WordPress Blog

    I’ve gone through the proper export and import processes to bring my old blog into my new installation of wordpress.

    The posts import OK, but the import will stop and not import all the images. Many of the images have this error next to them: Remote file error: Remote server did not respond

    I copied and pasted a php.ini file and attempt to make adjustments. Nothing seems to help. My installation is hosted at GoDaddy.

    Do you have to export from wordpress to wordpress?

    There are 2 methods:

    1) In new installation, replace wp-content of your old installation and upload old database

    2) Use wordpress.com to import and then export via wordpress.com to your blog.

    I’m having the same issue too, with the line:
    Importing attachment http://christianfletcher.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/p104d.jpg… Remote file error: Remote server did not respond

    Even though that path serves the image. I also tried a mass search & replace where I switched “christianfletcher.files.wordpress.com/” with “”christianfletcher.wordpress.com/files/” and that didn’t work either.

    I can find nothing online for this other than other people with the same issue, so any help is sincerely appreciated.

    same problem, every attachment gives remote server did not response error, any help here is greatly appreciated
