• Hi,
I have WordPress 2.0.5 and cannot get ANY plugins to work!
I have tried for weeks. I always get a fatal error message when I try to activate it after installing it in my plug-in folder. For example, today I tried to activate something called the Multi-level Navigation Plug-in. The message I get is:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_script() in /jotun1/justfree.com/t/o/p/toppdogg/htdocs/wordpress2/wp-content/plugins/multi-level-navigation-plugin/admin_page.php on line 141

Again I need to emphasize that it is not only this plug-in: none of them work save for Akismet. Is it because of my early version of WordPress?

*The reason I am using this version is because I am using a free hosting site called justfree.com. I am satisfied with it but its automatic install of WordPress seems to only be version 2.0.5.

Thank you very much for any advice and guidance!
    Robert

  • The Multi-level Navigation Plug-inRequires WordPress Version: 2.8 or higher”. WordPress 2.0 is five years old now. There have been major changes to the system in that time. Chances are that any plugin you try to install is not going to be compatible– not to mention the security concerns with running a system that old.

I am satisfied with it but its automatic install of WordPress seems to only be version 2.0.5.

It’s probably an old installer program they never update, like fantastico.
For the sake of security, upgrade from the wp admin or install it fresh manually, it’s really easy to do. Then things will work also.

Thank you. That’s what I thought/was afraid of.
Any suggestions for a good free hosting site that supports a new version of WordPress? I’ve looked around the Web and have some ideas but just was wondering if you had any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Robert

They all support the latest version, if your previous control panel installed outdated version does then the latest release will. It’s the script installer you use that’s old, better you just upload latest version the and do it yourself.

Try byethost.com for a free host. Cant say they support .htaccess though.
