• Once I have tested and selected a theme and a suite of plugins, is it better to

install the theme first than then install the plugins

    or

customize WP with the plugins first and then overlay the theme?

or does it matter? It seems that some plugins don’t always work with some themes so I’m inclined to install the theme first. Any opinions?

    Thanks

  • Depends on the plugins. If they are specific to the theme, then go with the theme first. If not it doesn’t matter.

I’d go theme, then add plugins–it might not really matter.

But for a working WordPress installation, you always need a theme, but you don’t need plugins.

    Thanks guys,

as I indicated, I’m probably inclined to go theme first just because I occasionally see notaions on the plugin pages which basically say, ” Does not work with Theme ‘X’ ” Also, sometimes plugins put things in places which don’t exist in a theme. There are so many plugins that I’m sure I can find an alternative, unless the plugin is the be all to end all intrinsic to my site functionality.

But, it never hurts to ask an opinion.

    Thanks again

BTW, kudos, that was amazingly quick response.
